Why Do Some Get Sick, And Some Don't?

Every young child learns that Thomas Edison invented the light bulb. Yet, few know who discovered chiropractic. But more fascinating is why chiropractic was discovered.

Take yourself back over a hundred years ago to a time when "patent medicines" flourished. These were often sold as cure alls whose active ingredients were usually alcohol, cocaine, arsenic and a host of other dangerous substances.

In the midst of this, a healer, experimenter and freethinker by the name of Daniel David Palmer in Davenport, Iowa asked a simple question:
"I desired to know why one person was ailing and his associate eating at the same table, working in the same shop was not. Why? What difference was there in the two persons that caused one to have pneumonia, catarrh, typhoid or rheumatism, while his partner, similarly situated, escaped? Why?"
At a time when germs were given the blame for virtually every disease, this was a groundbreaking way of framing the question about health. Germs alone couldn't be the cause of disease, otherwise everyone would get sick.

Chiropractic came into existence soon afterwards. D.D. Palmer discovered that it's smarter to look at the person with the disease, rather than the disease in the person. Revolutionary then - and revolutionary now!

The 10 Things You Can Do RIGHT NOW (and for FREE) to Change Your Health and Save You Money.

1.       Throw Away Your VitaminsIf your vitamin contains synthetic ingredients…it’s crap, you’re better not taking any than taking one full of synthetics.  You have synthetics in your vitamin if you see ingredients with suffixes like: -acetate, -bitartrate, -chloride, -gluconate, -hydrochloride, -nitrite, or –succinate.  Get rid of it.

2.       Be the Mac Daddy or the Daddy Mac:  Jump, Jump!  Seriously, start jumping.  Movements that are explosive increase serotonin and dopamine, build bone density, increase growth hormone naturally, and decrease blood sugar.

3.       Don’t Worry, Be HappyDo you have a song stuck in your head now?  Good.  The more you concentrate on what you are thankful for, the more your body switches to a state of growth, healing, and repair.  I dare you to start a gratitude journal.  Each morning, write what you are thankful for.  It can be as simple as a fridge to keep your food cold.

4.       Be Like BozoRemember those old clown punching bags that were bottom heavy?  You would punch it and it would come back up?  Instead of sitting on a rigid chair all day at your desk, switch to an exercise ball.  It forces you to have good posture and build core stability.  Sitting to your spine is like sugar to your teeth, it rots it.  Just don’t get mad if someone calls you a clown.

5.        Hold Your BreathPractice taking deep breaths and holding it.  Have contests with your kids to see who can hold their breath the longest.  This will open up your diaphragm, clear your lungs, and exchange oxygen for carbon dioxide.  Try and exhale as slow as you can…room for another contest.  Inflating you lungs as large as possible on a  regular basis builds strength and endurance of your lungs.

6.       Walk Backwards on an Imaginary Tight Rope:  Try walking heel to toe with a 2 second pause before taking another step.  If this is easy, do it backwards.  The more you test your balance, the more you stimulate the cerebellum, the part of the brain that coordinates everything in your body, especially learning/concentration/memory.

7.       Play Dress Up With Your Alarm Clock:  Before you go to bed, cover your alarm clock with a hat, a scarf, or even a t-shirt.  The slightest glow can interrupt healing sleeping patterns.  Make your bedroom as dark as possible.

8.       Stop Watching Commercials:  Besides the obvious pharmaceutical commercial overload I want you to avoid, at the commercials of your programs, get up and do as many pushups as you can.  At the next commercial break do as many squats as you can.  You can also do jump roping, see #2.

9.       Act Like a Child:  Ever wonder why kids have so much energy?  It’s because they move around so much.  If you sit ALL day, you feel tired at the end of the day.  But if you get up and stretch and walk around, you feel energized.  Children have mucho energy because they are moving around to begin with and don’t stop until they are tired.  Don’t punish the child, act like him or her.

10.    Eat Like an ElephantYou’re always going to eat, so eat as much as you want…if it’s what an elephant would eat.  What does an elephant eat?  He eats lots of plant based foods.  Go nuts on all the veggies and fruits and water you can stand.  The only bad part is that you don’t have someone else to feed and clean up after you, though you could pay someone to do that.

13 Foods That Fight Pain

While many foods taste great, they are also powerful healers in a vibrant multicolor disguise. The best healing remedies also taste fabulous (I can’t say that about any prescription medications). Plus, foods won’t cause the nasty common side effects that most drugs cause.

1. Cherries
Muraleedharan Nair, PhD, professor of natural products and chemistry at Michigan State University, found that tart cherry extract is ten times more effective than aspirin at relieving inflammation. Only two tablespoons of the concentrated juice need to be taken daily for effective results. Sweet cherries have also been found to be effective.

2. Blackberries
3. Raspberries
4. Blueberries and
5. Strawberries
Dr. Nair later found the same anti-pain compound in berries like blackberries, raspberries, blueberries and strawberries

6. Celery and Celery Seeds
James Duke, Ph.D., author of The Green Pharmacy, found more than 20 anti-inflammatory compounds in celery and celery seeds, including a substance called apigenin, which is powerful in its anti-inflammatory action. Add celery seeds to soups, stews or as a salt substitute in many recipes.

7. Ginger
Ginger reduces pain-causing prostaglandin levels in the body and has been widely used in India to treat pain and inflammation. A study by Indian researchers found that when people who were suffering from muscular pain were given ginger, they all experienced improvement. The recommended dosage of ginger is between 500 and 1,000 milligrams per day. If you’re taking medications, check with your health practitioner for possible herb-drug interactions.

8. Turmeric
Turmeric (curcuma longa) is the yellow spice commonly used in Indian curries. In research it has been shown to be a more effective anti-inflammatory than steroid medications when dealing with acute inflammation. Its main therapeutic ingredient is curcumin. Research shows that curcumin suppresses pain through a similar mechanism as drugs like COX-1 and COX-2 inhibitors (without the harmful side effects). Choose a standardized extract with 1500 mg of curcumin content per day.

9. Salmon 10. Mackerel and 11. Herring
Many fatty fish like salmon, mackerel and herring also contain these valuable oils. Omega-3s convert in the body into hormone-like substances that decrease inflammation and pain. According to Dr. Alfred D. Steinberg, an arthritis expert at the National Institute of Health, fish oil is an anti-inflammatory agent. Fish oil acts directly on the immune system by suppressing 40 to 55 percent of the release of cytokines, compounds known to destroy joints. Many other studies also demonstrate that eating moderate amounts of fish or taking fish oil reduces pain and inflammation, particularly for arthritis sufferers.

12. Flax Seeds and Flax Oil
Freshly-ground flax seeds and cold-pressed flax oil, contain plentiful amounts of fatty acids known as Omega-3s. Do not cook with flax oil otherwise it will have the opposite effect-irritating the body’s tissues and causing pain.

13. Raw Walnuts and Walnut Oil
Raw walnuts and walnut oil also contain the same powerful Omega-3 fatty acids that fight pain and inflammation in the body.

When it comes to pain, food really is the best medicine.
